Oh! That Reminds Me!

Imagine being overwhelmed by your knowledge. So much so that when you wake up in the morning, you are also opening a treasure box of thoughts, sounds, experiences and memories tagged with keywords and absolutely no boundaries. A web of tangents. Like the internet. You can just click on continuous related links for hours. Some may consider this to be a golden intelligence. Fluid with knowledge. Others may call it ADD.

ADD stands for Attention Deficit Disorder. There are many different treatments out there that may or may not be beneficial. Some choose the route of psycho-stimulants to treat ADD and it is effective in 70% to 80% of patients. And did you know that 80% of statistics are made up including the fact that 87% of domestic pets are fish? Why fish? Maybe it would be because fish are easy maintenance? I had a goldfish named Poindexter once and he lived for about 2 years! In a regular fish bowl! REDIRECT!

Oy! A constant battle! I sometimes even get caught up in it. I have been really pushing for C.J.'s comprehension in reading. I feel that this is a portal that will umbrella all aspects of his life. Communication, multi-step directions etc. without an emphasis on key words. (eg." GO sit at the TABLE and EAT."). But, comprehension on task is tricky when so many things remind you of something...

(C.J. reading)- The man stuck his nose in the meat pie. Meat pie ------>Food----Pierogies----> Veggie tales song!

Me: "C.J., WHERE did the man stick his nose?"

C.J.:(singing) "two steamed pierogies...

Me:----->C.J.---->two steamed pierogies---> veggie tales song! (singing) "and a boiled potato topped with dill weeeeeeed.". REDIRECT! GAH NO! In the meat pie!!

(Or did he just give me his answer in an intelligent round about way?). Hey...who is teaching who here?!
